Restaurant Wine Etiquette Tips From a Sommelier

Tracy Byrnes Headshot

We took our podcast on the road!

Hi! I’m Tracy Byrnes, Fox Business anchor and Wine With Me columnist.

Now granted, we didn’t go far.

Because across the street from Fox HQ is Del Frisco’s, one of the greatest steakhouses in the country.

We got to sit with their uber-personable wine director, Jessica Certo. I asked her all the tough restaurant wine etiquette questions, like:

  • How do I let the sommelier know I’m on a budget without blurting it out to my entire party?
  • Why does the sommelier put the cork in front of me after she opens the bottle and what the heck am I supposed to do with it?
  • And, of course, can I send the bottle back if I don’t like it?

Jessica – who is also a candidate for the Master Sommelier exam – was open and honest and super-fun! And she gave us the inside dirt.

So listen in and you’ll feel totally confident the next time you order a bottle of wine at a restaurant!

Cent ‘Anni.
