What does Brian think?

  • Neither President Obama nor Mitt Romney got the knockout blow.
  • There is no doubt that President Obama was stronger throughout.
  • Mitt Romney made a mistake by saying he will pull our troops out by 2014.

Hour One

Congressman Allen West (R-FL) Calls In:

Rep. Allen West (R-FL) to Brian on President Obama’s comments on horses and bayonets:

The president does not understand recent military actions.  In the beginning of the Afghan campaign in 2001, we had Special Forces guys mounted on horses with the Northern Alliance.   The Army and the Marines still use bayonets.  We are about to take our Navy down to 230 war ships when 70-75% of the mass of the earth is water and China is building up their naval capabilities.

Rep. Allen West (R-FL) on President Obama’s comments on the sequestration:

Sequestration came from the Obama administration and he needs to take ownership of it.  Now that the president says it is not going to happen, it will make it a whole lot easier for us when we return back to legislative session.  Before we left I had a piece of legislation that said we need to accept what we have done in the House to stave off sequestration or ask the president to bring up his plan by October the 15th, which has since past.  At least I know now that the President agrees with me and that sequestration should not happen.

Gretchen Carlson, In Studio:

  • According to Gretchen, Romney should have made it simple:

“The whole essence of the story is that four Americans are dead.  Now how are we supposed to express to their families how this happened? That, to me, would’ve summed it up.”

Hour Two

Bob Barnett (Obama Campaign debate consultant) Calls In:

  • Bob Barnett, who worked on 9 different elections, thought Mitt Romney was playing hide and seek:

“I think he is playing hide and seek honestly.  If you take what he said last night and compare it with what he said two or three weeks ago, there’s a big difference. So he’s made a strategic decision that he should stay away from foreign policy controversy.  But the problem with that is that when you’re President of the United States you don’t have that luxury.  You have to bring out an insistent message to people…”

  • Barnett also weighed in on the outcome of the upcoming election:

I don’t think this is going to be won or lost in the next two weeks. I think that it’s going to come down to seven states, and about 5-6% in those seven states.

Brett O’Donnell (former debate coach to Gov. Romney and Rep. Bachmann) Calls In:

  • O’Donnell weighed in on last night’s debate and told Brian that Obama was trying to make Romney into a warmonger.
  • Brett O’Donnell weighed in on last night’s debate and told Brian what he thought was Governor Romney and President Obama’s strongest moments in last night’s debate.
  • I thought both of their strongest moments were the exchange over the apology tour.

Hour Three

Brian takes calls and Jennifer Griffin (FOX News National Security Correspondent) Calls In:

  • Griffin tells Brian she thinks Obama “came out swinging.”
  • Griffin also commented on the leak to the NY Times’ on Saturday night, which said that the administration agreed to one-on-one talks with Iran about the nuclear program as a last-stitch effort, which the White House, State Department and Pentagon all denied two hours later.
