Proper Guest Etiquette on the Day of a Wedding
Wedding season is upon us and there are a few things your guests should know before entering the wedding.
FOX’s Ashley Papa has a special Wedding edition of “FOX on Love”:
Weddings are a time to celebrate, but they’re not an excuse to leave your manners at the chapel door.
From before the ceremony to the after-party, senior style editor of The Knot, Lauren Kay, says guests need to remember some basic etiquette like being on time!:
(Kay) “If forces beyond your control make you late, especially to the ceremony, don’t stroll into the church behind the bride and walk up the aisle. Do everything you can to slip in unnoticed. If you end up skipping the ceremony, definitely make a discreet entrance to the reception.”
Don’t bring big, clunky gifts to the reception and make sure to RSVP on time. Kay adds avoid unwelcomed toasts:
(Kay) “Unless you’re asked to make a toast, you should just raise your glass when appropriate and share all those feelings with your friends or with the couple after the wedding; and drinking too much. Don’t let the open bar get the best of you. Yes, it’s definitely a party, but drink responsibly at least until the after-party.”
As a guest, you don’t want to embarrass yourself or the couple.
