NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series Takes a Weekend Off
Pit row is closed this week as NASCAR’s Sprint Cup drivers and crews enjoy the first break week of the season. And Kyle Larson continues to heal after a nasty crash at Fontana.
FOX’s Marghiee Teshineh presents ‘FOX in the Fastlane’:
The NASCAR Sprint Cup is off this weekend and Jimmie Johnson’s crew chief Chad Knaus says it’s nice to head into the break on a high note, as the crew savors last week’s victory in Fontana:
(Knaus) “We make sure to emphasize with our guys that they do celebrate the victories and go out there and enjoy it whether that be going out and partying at a club or whether it’s getting an ice cream with the kids. Whatever that is, you know whatever your way of celebrating is we want to make they do that.”
But for Johnson and Knaus the celebration is never long because:
(Knaus) “As soon as we get back to the shop on Monday we’re are focused on the upcoming event.”
Next week the Sprint Cup series goes to the short track at Martinsville where Jimmie Johnson has won eight times. Only Denny Hamlin comes close, with five wins.
And Kyle Larson is still pretty sore after last week’s crash at Fontana when his car went into a wall; tweeting a message to fans that he would not be driving in a Sprint car race in California this week, opting to rest up in preparation for Martinsville.
