Obama Bans Solitary Confinement For Juveniles In Federal Prisons

    President Obama is making some changes in federal prisons.

    FOX’s Rachel Sutherland reports from Washington:

    Juveniles will no longer be sent to solitary confinement in federal prisons and neither will low-level offender adults per new executive actions from the President.

    In an op-ed for the “Washington Post”, President Obama wrote that solitary confinement for juveniles is linked to depression, alienation, withdrawal, a reduced ability to interact with others and the potential for violent behavior.

    Earlier this year, the President asked the Justice Department to review solitary confinement, part of his broader push to reform the criminal justice system.
