Housecall for Health: Quit Smoking With Cancer? Maybe Not
If you’re diagnosed with cancer, do you really need to give up some of your unhealthy habits? A new study shows that many don’t necessarily think so, especially when it comes to smoking.
FOX’s Colleen Cappon reports in today’s “Housecall for Health”:
A new study suggests that being diagnosed with cancer doesn’t necessarily mean giving up bad health habits – including smoking cigarettes. Researchers at Harvard Medical School found that only a minority of cancer patients quit smoking after their diagnosis.
Experts say the reason could be that patients rely on a pharmacological approach to fight the disease, and don’t focus on overall wellness that can impact cancer survival rates.
