Bacon Reserves Now at Lowest Level in Almost 50 Years
A breakfast favorite could be getting more expensive.

Bacon prices heating up as the nation’s bacon reserves dip, now at the lowest level in about half a century
with the demand for frozen pork belly, outpacing supply according to the Ohio Pork Council, which reports pork belly prices have increased 20 percent in January.
The USDA saying there were 17.8 million pounds of frozen pork belly reserves in the U.S. at the end of December, compared to 53.4 million pounds in December 2015.
Officials suggesting increased foreign demand might account for the decline in inventory as Hog farmers export about a quarter of total productions.
