Joey Logano Hopes Talladega Success Carries into Martinsville
The Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship continues as the field narrows to the Round of Eight and drivers head to Martinsville this Sunday for the Goody’s Fast Relief 500. And there are new rules in place for the 2017 season already.
FOX’s Marghiee Teshineh has this week’s “FOX in the Fast Lane”:
Joey Logano made the cut thanks to a win at Talladega, but said he didn’t get to savor the victory for too long as he prepares for this weekend’s Chase race at Martinsville:
(Logano) “It’s nice being able to move on to the next round. That was a great feeling for about, I don’t know, 20 minutes, and now we’re thinking about Martinsville already and how we’re going to go out there and try to get ourselves to Homestead and win a championship.”
And will this be the year Logano raises the Cup?:
(Logano) “I feel good about our chances. I feel good about where we’re at in this thing to be able to move on. Yeah, we got speed, we got momentum, we got confidence, so let’s go.”
Look for Kyle Busch to go for a season sweep at Martinsville.
And NASCAR says starting next season Cup drivers with five plus years experience will be limited to running in only 10 Xfinity races and seven Truck races per year but not during the Chase, the regular season finale or the Xfinity “Dash 4 Cash” races.
