For 18 years, the family of Natalee Holloway suffered the impact of her loss without any answers surrounding her disappearance. However, a groundbreaking update to the case has now been made. Joran van der Sloot was a prime suspect in the case and was extradited to the United States in June to face charges of wire fraud and extortion against the Holloway family. Just this month, van der Sloot confessed to the 2005 murder of Natalee as part of a plea deal.

WBRC Anchor Jonathan Hardison discusses the contents of van der Sloot’s confession and breaks down the concurrent sentencing he faces for his crimes. Later, he discusses the impact of the news on both the Holloway family, as well as the Birmingham community, as they react to the answers finally being brought to light.
