Extra: A Wounded Warrior’s Incredible Story Of Survival
While serving in Afghanistan in 2005, Senior Master Sergeant Israel Del Toro’s Humvee was hit by an IED. He was severally injured, suffered burns all over his body, and Doctors only gave him a 15% chance of survival. However, not only did Del Toro survive, he re-enlisted in the Air Force despite an amputated arm and only partial use of his fingers.
Since then, he has dedicated his life to raising his children and serving his country.
Senior Master Sergeant Israel Del Toro’s recently joined the Rundown’s Dave Anthony to talk about his incredible story and his new book A Patriot’s Promise: Protecting My Brothers, Fighting for My Life, and Keeping My Word.
He opened up about his long, painful recovery, the tragedies he endured even before he went to war, and how he is using second chance at life to serve his country and his family.
