Arizona Immigrant Mother Given Leniency Under Obama Administration, Deported
An immigrant mother from Arizona who was given leniency under the Obama administration has been deported under the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration.
FOX’s Tonya J. Powers has the story:
Guadalupe Garcia de Rayos has become a high-profile example of President Trump’s approach to illegal immigration.
She was deported to Mexico yesterday, arrested after reporting for a routine check to immigration and customs officials despite knowing she risked being detained.
She was, and her son, Angel Rayos Garcia, isn’t taking it well:
(Garcia) “It’s a nightmare, having your mother taken away from you. The person who’s always there for you, gone.”
Her daughter, Jacqueline, called it “heartbreaking”. Garcia de Rayos arrests prompted a demonstration in downtown Phoenix late Wednesday as protests blocked enforcement vans from leaving a U.S. Immigration Office.
