NJ Rocker Bon Jovi Puts Down More than a Penny to Save Ben Franklin’s Gravestone
Ben Franklin’s gravestone gets a little help from a New Jersey rocker.
FOX’s Chris Foster reports:
Jon Bon Jovi and his wife Dorothea pitch in $5,000 toward the restoration of Ben Franklin’s gravestone in Philadelphia, pushing the fundraiser past its $10,000 goal.
Ben’s one of seven signers of the Declaration of Independence buried across from Independence Mall, and his marble marker needs some work.
The Christ Church Preservation Trust blames a big crack in the stone on thousands of pennies a year being thrown at it, in honor of Ben’s famous saying “a penny saved is a penny earned.”
