Vanilla Ice: Rapper Turned into a Handy Man
When you think of Vanilla Ice, do you think about flipping houses and mansions? Well if you said no, you might be in for a surprise.
FOX’s Laura Ingle has this week’s “Bonus Track”:
You know Vanilla Ice from hit hip-hop hits, but did you know he also loves to design homes. He told me he used to hire people to do it for him:
(Vanilla Ice) “Then I went to design school and when I did that I got the bug and I said you know what I don’t need the decorators, I don’t need to pay those high bills anymore, I’m going to do it myself.”
Now he’s busting out his designer moves with his TV show “The Vanilla Ice Project” on DIY and HGTV Network to showcase his style of flipping dilapidated mansions into pimped out palatial estates. One of his latest flips involves a property on Florida, right on the ocean:
(Vanilla Ice) “And we’re doing a three-tier house and on the top is an observation deck and you can actually see the space shuttles launch from the backyard too.”
And he still tours, so I had to ask does he ever get tired of playing “Ice Ice Baby”:
(Vanilla Ice) “It never gets old because the energy from the crowd, I mean you put it on, people are jumping and dancing and remembering if they had Z Cavaricci pants or if they put the zig-zag lines in their hair.”
I’m Laura Ingle and that’s your “Bonus Track”.
