SCOTUS Says No to Texas Abortion Clinic Law
A major abortion ruling from the Supreme Court strikes down restrictions in Texas.
Listen to FOX News Radio’s coverage of SCOTUS’ ruling on the Texas abortion law:
Strict regulations imposed on Texas abortion clinics will not stand, a 5-3 ruling concluding the state’s rules are not medically necessary and unconstitutionally restrict a woman’s access to abortions.
The state’s 2013 law required doctors who provide abortions to have admitting privileges at local hospitals and required clinics to meet hospital-like surgical center standards.
Texas attorneys argued the provisions were in the best interest of women’s health. Justice Stephen Breyer joined by Justices, Anthony Kennedy, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan describing the rules as undue burdens.
