As he embarks on a three day peace mission to Armenia, Pope Francis weighs in the results of Thursday’s vote in the Britain to leave the European Union.

On the Papal plane to Armenia…

79-year-old Pope Francis commented on the shock result of the UK referendum to leave the European Union saying that the “will of the people is to be respected”, but that the decision to leave the EU also requires “great responsibility” and “guarantees” for the good of both Britain and other European countries.

Francis is on a three day trip to Armenia with a message of peace and solidarity with this poor Christian country of three million as it marks the centennial of a slaughter of over a million and half by Ottoman Turks.
