The Inside Scoop on How Wines Make the Wine Spectator Top 100 List

Wine Spectator Top 100 List 2014

Everyone loves lists, and for wine lovers the only list is the Wine Spectator Top 100 that comes out near the end of every year – and has been since 1988.

Tracy Byrnes Headshot

I’m Tracy Byrnes, Fox Business anchor and Wine With Me columnist, so sitting down with Bruce Sanderson, Senior Editor and Tasting Director of Wine Spectator – the brains behind the Top 100, was like sitting with Oprah and asking her how she picked her favorite things.

So cool!

Sanderson explained in detail how they start with 18,000 wines (I swear!) and whittle it down to the Top 100.

He said every wine must have an “X factor” – and no I’m not talking about Simon Cowell’s show.

He also filled us in on some trends for 2015, so you have to listen.

But here’s a hint: Spin the globe and point your finger to a country – odds are good they are making a wine you should try.

Cent’ Anni.
