San Francisco Police Chief Greg Suhr Resigns Following Another Police Killing
A law enforcement shakeup in the city by the bay following another police killing in San Francisco. Police Chief Greg Suhr has resigned.

San Francisco’s Police Chief Greg Suhr has resigned, coming after an officer fatally shot a young black woman who was driving a stolen car. It follows months of tension since December, when five officers shot and killed a young black man carrying a knife.
Mayor Ed Lee supported the Chief in December and again in April after it was disclosed that three officers had exchanged racist text messages.
But hours after Thursday’s shooting, Lee asked for his resignation:
(Lee) “I’ve asked myself: Is the path to reform best advanced by current department’s leadership?”
Deputy Chief Toney Chaplin, who is a 26-year department veteran and is also black, has been appointed Acting Chief.
