Ford’s Investing in Upgrading Factories

Ford plans to invest some money to upgrade a couple of its factories.

    FOX’s Pat O’Neill has more:

The automaker says it’s going to pump $1.6 billion into two facilities. $1.4 billion will go into its Livonia, Michigan, plant to build a 10-speed transmission for its new F-150 Raptor pickup.

Its Avon Lake, Ohio, plant will get $200 million to build super-duty chassis cab, used for tow trucks, ambulances and other commercial vehicles.

Ford says the moves will support a total of 650 jobs, but it’s not saying how many new jobs will be created. Ford took some heat recently for announcing plans to build a plant in Mexico, but countered that it plans to invest $9 billion overall in U.S. factories as outlined in its last contract with the United Auto Workers.
