An Ohio man faces a murder charge in his wife's death, after confessing to a 911 dispatcher.

FOX's Lisa Brady has the story:

57-year-old Jeffrey Hawkins says he shot his wife Jo Ann multiple times with a handgun in their suburban Cincinnati home:

(Hawkins) "I never wanted to do anything."

Clearly distraught, but also mostly calm during his 911 confession:

(Hawkins) "She took all the money our of my bank account on my birthday on Saturday."

Hawkins says his wife had been gone, but was there when he came home:

(Hawkins) "She just wouldn't talk to me and she just kept saying talk to my lawyer and I don't know it just happened."

Police say after that call late Monday morning, officers went to the home in Colerain township, and Hawkins was waiting to surrender.

His lawyer says Hawkins is a former Chicago-area police officer. A Hamilty County judge setting bond at $3 million.
