Lawyer of the Family for Former Saints Player Will Smith Says Smith was Shot 6-8 Times

Prosecutors in New Orleans release more details on the shooting death of former NFL player Will Smith.

FOX’s Jeff Monosso reports:

The lawyer representing the family of Will Smith says the former Saints defensive end was shot six-to-eight times in the back and that his wife was shot twice in the legs, but is recovering. And that any talk of shooter Cardell Hayes and self defense claims after a hit and run Saturday in New Orleans are false:

(Thompson) “When that occurred there was no damage and when the Hummer came back and rammed Will Smith’s car that was far more than a fender bender, that was an intentional ram.”

Peter Thompson also says the gun found in Smith’s car was legally owned and never brandished.

Hayes faces murder and assault charges, meantime a public visitation will be held Friday to honor Smith and a private funeral and burial will be held Saturday.
