First Uterus Transplant in the United States Fails

The first uterus transplant in the U.S. has failed.

FOX’s Lisa Brady reports:

Nearly two weeks after the transplant, the Cleveland clinic says there was a sudden complication and the uterus was surgically removed on Tuesday. Just one day after the 26-year-old patient briefly appeared at a news conference thanking the donor’s family:

(Patient) “They have provided me with a gift that I will never be able to repay.”

And saying she wanted to share her story:

(Patient) “When I was 16 and was told I would never have children.”

Adding, she’s prayed every day since to be able to one day experience pregnancy. The hospital is still investigating what went wrong, but says its clinic trial will continue. The goal is ten transplants.

Sweden has had transplant success and five healthy births.
