Florida Pilot Lands Plane in a Driveway

When a Florida pilot developed engine problems he looked for a safe place to put it down in a residential neighborhood. In an amazing feat of skill, he managed to land in a driveway!

    FOX’s Gary Baumgarten reports:

Pilot Randy Shur was just three blocks from the runway at the North Perry Airport when his Cessna 152 developed engine trouble.

He looked for a safe place to put the plane down. He found a Hollywood, Florida, street with no cars and then he saw a driveway in the back yard of a house:

(Shur) “This road looked like the best one to put it down on and I did what I could to get it down and walk away from it. Just got to keep your cool and fly the plane down.”

Shur suffered a minor injury to his head. Neighbors congratulated him on his skillful landing, but he shrugged the compliments off, “I did what I was trained to do,” he says. Saying that any landing you can walk away from is a good landing.
