There's a new apple in the orchard.
FOX's Tom Graham explains:
Chew on this, Washington State University scientists have developed the so-called "Cosmic Crisp" apple to go along with the Red Delicious and McIntosh.
It's took researchers 20 years to perfect the new apple in lab testing. WSU scientists have also trademarked the Cosmic Crisp. It will only be available for planting by Washington State farmers for at least the next ten years.
This as many orchards in the nation's biggest apple producing state work to cash in on specialty fruit. The new apple could go on sale as early as 2019.
