Charlotte City Council Approves Transgender Bathroom Ordinance

Charlotte’s City’s Council passes a new ordinance that, among other things, allows transgendered persons to pick the public restroom they feel they ought to use. The approval was not unanimous among the councilors.

    FOX’s Eben Brown reports:

Charlotte’s new ordinance says no business may refuse serving people due to gender identity, but also got cheers from the city’s LGBTQ community as it allows one to use the public restroom of which gender they associate:

(Person) “I’ve been denied the use of a restroom. Embarrassed, ashamed, and made to feel like less of a person.”

It passed seven to four, but not everybody at the meeting thought it was a good idea:

(Woman) ”I’m a very loving person, but I don’t have to share a bathroom with you or take a shower with you in order to show that.”

Even North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory thinks it would create public safety issues.
