New Antibiotic Prescription Guidelines For Doctors
Fearing antibiotics are still being over-prescribed, there are new guidelines for doctors.
FOX’s Eben Brown reports:
If you have a cold… You should stop expecting your doctor to write a prescription for highly-powered antibiotics like Levaquin or the “Z-Pak” formulation of Azithromycin.
Health officials, like at the Centers for Disease Control, say they’re too often being used still on patients who don’t need them, leading them to be less effective when needed to combat so-called superbug infections, like ‘MRSA’.
The CDC is now recommending more symptom treatment for colds and flues, which are impervious to antibiotics anyway – those treatments would include over-the-counter fever reducers and cough suppressants.
