National Guard Boosts Presence In Flint, Michigan During Water Crisis

The National Guard is boosting its presence in Flint as part of an effort to assist in dealing with the city’s drinking water crisis.

FOX’s Jeff Monosso reports:

Days after President Obama signed an emergency declaration, the National Guard has doubled the number of troops on the ground in Flint, Michigan to 70 members handing out filters, water testing kits and bottled water to thousands of homes and Flint residents like these.

(Residents) “If you have four little kids, you know, that one pack of water, you can’t bathe all of them in that, and let alone do your dishes.// A lot of people are mad about it…// …But we are appreciative of everybody helping out.”

The water became contaminated after Flint switched from Detroit water system to the Flint River to save money. The river was so corrosive it caused lead to leach from old pipes.
