Obama Faces Criticism Over Iran Prisoner Swap
Claiming that diplomacy works, the President takes a victory lap over the release of five Americans who were imprisoned in Iran.
FOX’s Jon Decker reports from the White House:
An American pastor and a Washington Post reporter are among the freed Americans…
(Cruz) ”Praise God that the prisoners are coming home… that the Americans are coming home.”
But Republican Senator Ted Cruz, a leading Presidential candidate, told Fox News Sunday he believes the swap sets a dangerous precedent.
(Cruz) ”Every bad actor on Earth has been told, go capture an American. If you want to get terrorists out of jail, capture an American and President Obama is in the ‘let’s make a deal’ business.”
U.S. officials says the seven Iranians that were released were either sentenced or awaiting trial in the U.S., and were not associated with terrorism.
