Defense Officials Release 10 Suspected Terrorists to Other Countries

More releases are expected today from the U.S. prison camp in Cuba.

FOX’s Steve Taylor reports from Washington:

Defense officials tell FOX News that 10 suspected terrorists captured during the Iraq War will be released today and sent to countries that have agreed to take them.

One official says these are “hard core” types with ties to al-Qaida or other terrorist groups. The Guantanamo population peaked at about 780. After today, there’ll be about 90 remaining…

Some likely will be accepted by other countries, but several dozen will have to be imprisoned elsewhere, since President Obama says he’s determined to see Gitmo close before he leaves office.
