Chipotle E. coli Outbreak Spreads
More people in more states are said to be infected with E. coli bacteria stemming from contaminated food at Chipotle Mexican Grill restaurant locations.
FOX’s Eben Brown reports:
The Centers for Disease Control are still tracking the outbreak of E. coli now traced to Chipotle locations around the country.
Another seven people have fallen ill recently, and the disease has now surfaced in patients from Illinois, Maryland, and Pennsylvania for the first time since the outbreak was discovered back in October. That brings the number of total states affected to nine.
The restaurant says they’re increasing safety standards, but in the process, may begin to rely on big produce suppliers instead of local farms who might not be able to keep to these standards.
