Oath of Allegiance To Change For New Citizens?
Incoming U.S. citizens will no longer be required to recite part of the Oath of Allegiance.
FOX News Radio’s Rachel Sutherland reports from Washington:
When someone has become a naturalized citizen of the United States, they’ve been required to say:
(Oath) “That I will bear arms on behalf of the United States…”
And… that they’ll “perform noncombatant service” in the Armed Forces, as part of the Oath of Allegiance.
But that’s changing… U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services says people may be allowed to exclude those phrases if they have religious or conscientious objections.
The agency is taking feedback on the change through August 4th.
