Damage Control In Indiana Over Religious Freedom Law [VIDEO]
Indiana’s capital city is on the record as opposed to the state’s controversial, new, religious-freedom law.
FOX News Radio’s Ron Flatter explains.
The State Capitol building has been the scene of protests. Now, the local government in Indianapolis has joined that chorus of criticism of Indiana’s new, Religious Freedom Restoration Act.
(Ballard) “Forty years of history as one of the most hospitable communities in America, should not be placed in jeopardy with this act.”
Mayor Greg Ballard, before the City-County Council voted 24 to 4 to go on the record against the act, which critics say may be used by businesses to justify turning away customers simply because they’re gay.
Republicans who wrote the bill say that’s not so and they say they’ll add language to erase any doubt.

Lawmakers in Indiana are attempting to tweak the state’s controversial new religious freedom law, amid protests and calls for business boycotts in the state.
FOX News Radio’s Jeff Monosso reports:
Indiana Republicans are looking at options to clarify SB 101, the new law that gay and other groups say opens to the door for discrimination.
(Lanane) “When you have a bill which is this tainted, this corrupted, there’s no fix to it, you just get rid of it.”
State Democratic Senate Leader Tim Lanane.
Though, Republicans like House Speaker Brian Bosma say SB 101 doesn’t allow discrimination against anyone…
(Bosma) “And those who say that are wrong.”
Rather, that it protects religious liberties against government intrusion.
Nineteen other states have similar laws, though many of those states also have laws that prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation. Indiana does not.
