President Obama Speaks On Situations In Iraq and Ferguson

    President Obama signaling progress in the U.S. mission in Iraq and urging restraint in a community in the U.S.

    FOX News Radio’s Jared Halpern has more from Washington:

    The situation on Mount Sinjar, where tens of thousands of religious minorities were believed to be trapped, has greatly improved.

    (President Obama) “We broke the ISIS siege of Mount Sinjar. We helped vulnerable people reach safety and we saved many innocent lives.”

    President Obama says those efforts likely means a U.S. rescue effort will not be needed, though airstrikes against the Sunni insurgency threatening Iraqis will continue. The President also urging calm in the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson, Missouri.

    (President Obama) “I know emotions are raw right now in Ferguson and there are certainly passionate differences about what has happened.”

    Days of protests have sparked a heavy police response stemming from the police shooting death of an unarmed black teenager.
