Cleanup Underway Following Tornado Outbreaks [PHOTOS/VIDEO]
People in the South and Midwest are working on cleaning up after getting hit by a batch of devastating tornadoes and storms that left behind a trail of death and destruction.
FOX News Radio’s Tonya J. Powers reports from Tupelo, Mississippi:
Carol Ann Hughes and her daughter are cleaning up the mess after Monday’s tornado.
They’re okay, they were in her home’s basement when it hit.
(Hughes) “I felt the pressure changing in my ears and I looked out the lower level window and saw the boards raising up on the deck outside, and I grabbed my daughter and shoved her under a desk.
Then they heard their home struggle against the storm.
(Hughes) “Right after we got under there you heard explosions of windows blowing out, and doors crashing in and then you could smell fresh wood and the crackling and popping of all the trees going down.”
Carol Ann is staying positive, despite the situation.
(Hughes) “The things in our house can be replaced, but lives can’t.”
