IRS Gave Bonuses To Employees With Disciplinary Problems

More than 2,800 IRS employees who had been disciplined were awarded bonuses, according to a report.

FOX News Radio’s Jared Halpern has more on an investigator’s report:

From 2010 to 2012, the Internal Revenue Service paid nearly $3 million dollars in bonuses to employees with disciplinary problems, including some who still owed the government back taxes. Others cited for misuse of credit cards or fraudulently claiming unemployment benefits.

The findings come from a Treasury Department Inspector General’s report, which finds the bonuses do not violate any Federal regulations, but are inconsistent with the IRS mission to enforce tax laws.

An IRS statement says bonuses were not issued to any executives with misconduct, a policy the agency says is being considered for the entire workforce.
