Obamacare Enrollment Surges With Last Minute Sign-Ups
A milestone for the Affordable Care Act. The White House says more than seven million Americans have enrolled for coverage.
LISTEN to President Obama’s statement made Tuesday afternoon from the Rose Garden of the White House:
FOX News Radio’s Jared Halpern reports from Washington:
Since the rocky rollout of healthcare.gov in October, seven million 41 thousand people signed up for a health insurance policy– a figure, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney says does not include state-exchange signups during a last minute surge yesterday (Monday).
Carney: “When we get numbers in from the rest of the states and people who were trying to sign up by the deadline and are finishing now, even more people will be covered.”
Seven million was an initial goal for the first year, though Carney did not say how many of those who signed up were previously uninsured or lost existing coverage due to the Affordable Care Act’s requirements.
