Tracy’s Tax Tips: IRS App

Need some tax info from the IRS? Well, in case you didn’t already know it… there’s an app for that!

FOX Business Network’s Tracy Byrnes reports in “Tracy’s Tax Tips”:

So did you know Uncle Sam has his own app?

I’m Tracy Byrnes with the Fox Business Network, here with Tracy’s Tax Tips.

Yep. IRS2Go works on both Apple and Android phones — and version 4.0 of the app adds new features, including a way to track the status of your tax refund.

So just download the app — big note though — you have to enter your Social Security number to access your info, but the IRS ensures that it will be masked and encrypted for security purposes. And once your info is called up, you then select your filing status, enter the amount of your anticipated refund and you will get an update on where your money is.

If you filed your return electronically, you can check your refund status within a 24 hour period after they received your return. If you file a paper tax return, you’ll need to wait about four weeks to check your refund status because it takes longer to process a paper return.

There have been approximately 3.5 million downloads of IRS2Go since its inception in 2011.
