Rocket Fire Heard Near Ariel Sharon’s Funeral
Rockets have been fired from Gaza in the direction of the funeral for a former Israeli Prime Minister– landing not far from where Vice President Joe Biden and others were paying their final respects.
Fox News Radio’s Emily Wither reports from Jerusalem:
Mourners for the former Prime Minister and Military General Ariel Sharon gathering at the family farm in the south of Israel to say goodbye.
Aged 85, Sharon died on Saturday after eight years in a coma.
Loved and hated, he was a controversial character with many enemies — attendees reported hearing explosions during the service — two rockets fired from Gaza landing in an open area nearby. Two other rockets were fired earlier in the day, but don’t appear to have landed in Israel. Forces here had been preparing for any possible attacks and Israel struck targets in Gaza shortly afterwards.
