Obama Administration: Contraception Mandate Should Not Be Blocked
The government has responded to the nuns who got a temporary reprieve to a controversial provision of Obamacare.
FOX News Radio’s Jared Halpern reports from Washington:
The Justice Department argues a Catholic charity should not be exempt from the Affordable Care Act’s contraception mandate, saying the Little Sisters of the Poor has no legal basis to challenge the provision.
The healthcare law makes an accommodation for religious-groups allowing them to provide a church plan exempt from birth control coverage.
However, the insurance providers may still offer contraception to employees.
Justice Sotomayor sided with the Catholic group earlier this week lower courts have also granted temporary relief in other similar challenges.
