Record $2.1 Million Paid in Baseball Card Auction

Honus Wagner Card Baseball

A small collectible went for a big price at a record-setting baseball card auction.

FOX News Radio’s Ron Flatter has details:

$2.1 million: That’s what someone paid this weekend for a small baseball card more than 100 years old, knowing collectors know it features Pittsburgh’s Hall-of-Fame shortstop Honus Wagner.  It’s a card that was taken off the market back then because Wagner didn’t want to be associated with the sponsor, American Tobacco.

While Goldin Auctions claimed it was a record price for a baseball card, there’s an asterisk: it’s a record price AT AUCTION.  Another Wagner card went for $2.8 million at a private sale in 2007.
