Sanford Wins SC Runoff
Former South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford has won the Republican nomination for a vacant Congressional seat, according to the Associated Press. Sanford, whose political career was derailed four years ago by an extramarital affair, won a runoff against former county councilman Curtis Bostic that was necessary after neither won a majority in a primary earlier this year.
Sanford now faces Democratic nominee Elizabeth Colbert Busch – sister of comedian and TV host Stephen Colbert – and Green Party candidate Eugene Platt in the general election.
