Evening Edition: Veteran Shares Story Of Recovery And Hope
The ‘988 National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline’ was established in July of 2022 and since then nearly six million people have contacted the service. Out of those millions, nearly one-quarter of them were made to the dedicated ‘Veterans Crisis Line and Military Crisis Line’. This year has seen a record number of calls into the hotline by a veteran community in which many still feel seeking help shows weakness.
FOX’s Eben Brown speaks with retired Marine Edward Schrank, an eight-time head and neck cancer survivor from chemical exposure while serving in the Marines, about his recovery story and his plight to make sure veterans know they are not alone when they need help.
