Rep. Andy Biggs: It’s Time For The GOP To Make Some Big Leadership Changes
Arizona Republican Congressman Andy Biggs joins Fox Across America With Jimmy Failla to explain why he is emphatically opposed to Kevin McCarthy becoming the next Speaker of the House.
“You go back to the last 8 to 10 years, Kevin McCarthy has been at the top of the heap for leadership here and has sent bills on the floor like, say, budget bills that the Democrats love, that every Democrat votes for, and half of the Republicans vote for or a third of the Republicans vote for or less. And that isn’t really what I call Republican leadership at that point. And so we’ve said, well, how about this? How about before you put a bill up like that, maybe you should have a majority of the majority. In other words, most Republicans would agree that that’s the plan we’re going to put up. How about doing that? But he didn’t like that either. And, you know, here’s one thing to think about. You’re seeing this in action right now. The biggest leverage that Congress will ever have is the purse strings. And McConnell is about to give up on this omnibus bill. So they’re going to have a spending package that goes from today all the way through the entire fiscal year. So we will go 10, 11 months and we’re not going to have that leverage point because McCarthy and McConnell and the Republicans are going to give it up. And the number one strongest leverage where you could leverage about 90-95 percent of your of your policies to try to get your agenda through is going to be gone. And then you’re going to be in the ’24 presidential election cycle. And they don’t do jack squat around here during a presidential election cycle.”
