Police Shoot, Kill Texas 8th-Grader With Lifelike Gun
An 8th-grader at a Texas middle school is dead, shot by police at the school after brandishing what looked like a real gun…but turned out to be a pellet gun.

Police in Brownsville, Texas say the carbon dioxide-powered handgun looked real, and the initial report to police was that a student was brandishing a gun in the hallway.
(Brown) “Numerous officers responded to the scene immediately. When they entered the school, the student engaged the officers, and the officers shot the student.”
…School District Spokeswoman Drue Brown. Police say before the deadly shooting, the 15-year-old walked into a Cummings Middle School classroom and punched another student in the nose. His grandmother, saying she can’t imagine what led to the confrontation with police, calling him a good kid.
