Housecall for Health: Soccer Brain Damage

Soccer is one of the most popular youth sports in the United States, but soccer players may have reason to starting worrying about using their head on the field.

FOX’s Colleen Cappon reports in today’s “Housecall for Health”:

A new study has found that one of the most common moves in soccer can cause brain damage.

Researchers at New York’s Albert Einstein College of Medicine say that frequently heading the ball results in brain injuries similar to those seen in patients with concussions.  MRI’s of amateur soccer players showed that heading the ball just a few times a day caused lacerated nerve fibers in the brain.
