Speaker Ryan Plans on Getting Tax Reform Bill Done, Even if Congress Stays Until Christmas
Congress could be staying until Christmas to get a tax reform bill done.
FOX’s Jared Halpern has more from Capitol Hill:
Republican leaders still plan to get a tax reform bill done by the end of the year. House Speaker Paul Ryan is even threatening to cancel holiday breaks:
(Ryan) “If that means we’ve got to stay here till Christmas to give them the relief they need and deserve, then tough, we will do that.”
Tax-writing committee members still have specifics to fill in on a framework that calls for lower corporate and individual tax rates, but eliminates some deductions, including the federal tax break for state and local taxes.
Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi warns:
(Pelosi) “Their constituents could see their tax exposure increased by thousands of dollars.”
Democrats say the GOP tax plan is designed to benefit the wealthy.
