It’s the story that just won’t go away. Everyone is still talking about Donald Trump Jr. and the meeting that he had last summer with a Russian lawyer who promised dirt on Hillary Clinton. And with the all the hysteria over the Don. Jr. story, Tom Shillue thinks that the Russian collusion conspiracy is the birther story of President Trump’s administration.
During The Tom Shillue Show on Wednesday, he talked about his theory with Juan Williams, co-host of The Five and best-selling author. Tom argued the media is responsible for continuing to give the Russia story life. He even called them the birthers of the Trump administration. Juan agreed that the media has been overhyping the Russia story. However, he does not think that it is a nothing story.
Juan pointed to the fact that even some Republicans are saying that Trump Jr.’s meeting with a Russian lawyer is troubling. People like Senator Lindsey Graham and Senator John McCain have expressed concern over this meeting and the possibility of collusion between the Trump Campaign and the Russian government.
Tom and Juan took a call from Grant in Indianapolis. Grant dismissed the latest Russian story and said that there still isn’t any evidence of collusion between Trump and Russia. Juan said that Trump Jr. probably did not think that what he was doing could be seen as collusion. In his view, he was just meeting with someone in order to possibly help his dad.
As far as Tom’s theory on the Russia story being the birther story of the Trump administration, Juan disagreed. He said that the birther story feed President Obama’s enemies, while Tom thought that it actually helped him because most of the country got behind him. Juan also pointed out that there is no basis to the birther theory, while there is evidence that the Russian government interfered in the 2016 U.S. Election.
