Let’s Make a Trade Deal: President Trump’s Eager to Renegotiate NAFTA
The President is ready to start renegotiating NAFTA.
FOX’s Jon Decker has more from the White House:
The Trump administration has formally notified Congress of its intent to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement.
The notification starts the clock on a 90-day period in which Congress will consult with the administration about its goals and negotiations with Canada and Mexico could begin as soon as August 16.
President Trump has criticized NAFTA as a “horrible deal for the U.S.,” and “the worst trade deal maybe ever.”
While NAFTA has proved successful for the U.S. agriculture and energy sectors, American manufacturing has been hard hit by the 23-year-old agreement.
