President Trump Endorses ‘Going Nuclear’ to Confirm Judge Neil Gorsuch for Supreme Court

President Trump endorsed the use of the so-called “nuclear option”, if needed, to achieve Senate confirmation of his Supreme Court nominee, Neil Gorsuch.

FOX’s Jon Decker has more from the White House:

Less than 24 hours after nominating Federal Appeals Court Judge Neil Gorsuch for the vacant seat on the U.S. Supreme Court, the President said he endorsed stripping the 60-vote threshold required to confirm Supreme Court nominees:

(President Trump) “But if we end up with that gridlock, I would say if you can, Mitch, go nuclear. Because that would be an absolute shame if a man of that quality got caught up in the web.”

Eliminating the filibuster for Supreme Court nominees would be a significant change for the Senate, making it far easier for future Presidents to confirm ideologically extreme nominees.
