Trump Administration’s Plan for the Border Wall

A so-called border tax is one way the Trump Administration says Mexico could ultimately pay for a border wall.

FOX’s Jared Halpern has more from the White House:

A 20 percent tax on imports from Mexico would raise enough money for a border wall.

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer told reporters aboard Air Force One:

(Spicer) “By doing it that way we can do $10 billion a year and easily pay for the wall, just from that mechanism alone.”

Spicer and other senior administration officials caution that idea is simply one of many.

House Republican leaders say the idea isn’t to target only Mexico and point to a GOP border adjustment proposal to tax imports rather than exports
