Jim Beam Fails to Come Upon Deal, Union Workers Vote to Strike
Union workers at Jim Beam’s distilleries in Kentucky are set to walk off the job over failed contract negotiations.

Members of a United Food and Commercial Workers local chapter voted 201-to-19 Tuesday in favor of a strike at midnight Friday at the Jim Beam distillery in Bullitt County, Kentucky, the world’s largest bourbon producer.
After more then a month of failed talks and as a surprise to Beam Suntory, which says in a statement, said that it’s offered a competitive two-year contract substantial wage increases and other enhancements and that it’s committed to resolving the matter.
Jim Beam was acquired by the Japanese company Suntory Holdings in 2014 as part of an estimated $16 billion deal.
